Preventive Maintenance | Repairs | Intermediate Diagnostics 

Electrical & Emissions Support 


Position Summary 

We are seeking a skilled B-Level Diesel Technician to perform preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and intermediate diagnostic work on Class 1 through Class 8 trucks. This position is ideal for a technician who can independently complete most repairs and basic diagnostics but may require support from a senior technician for complex electrical or advanced emissions troubleshooting.


The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to developing advanced diagnostic 

skills. 

 

Key Responsibilities


Preventive Maintenance 


  • Perform DOT inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance services 
  • Complete oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid services
  • Inspect and service:
  • Air and hydraulic brake systems
  • Steering and suspension systems
  • Driveline components
  • Cooling and fuel systems
  • Identify wear items and potential failures
  • Maintain accurate service documentation 


Mechanical Repairs 


  • Perform engine component replacements (water pumps, injectors, turbos, etc.) 
  • Assist with major engine repairs as needed 
  • Transmission and clutch replacement (manual preferred; automated a plus) 
  • Driveline and differential repairs 
  • Brake system repairs and adjustments 
  • Suspension and steering repairs 
  • HVAC and cooling system repairs 
  • Complete work according to OEM specifications 


Diagnostics & Electrical (Intermediate Level) 


  • Use scan tools to retrieve fault codes 
  • Perform basic drivability diagnostics 
  • Troubleshoot:
  • Starting and charging systems
  • Sensor and actuator failures
  • Basic wiring repairs
  • Read and follow wiring diagrams
  • Assist A-Level technicians with advanced diagnostics
  • Perform forced regens under supervision when necessary 


Emissions Systems Support 


  • Perform DPF removal and installation 
  • Replace DEF components and sensors 
  • Diagnose common emissions faults with guidance 
  • Assist with troubleshooting SCR, EGR, and aftertreatment systems 
  • Address minor emission-related derates 

 

Team & Shop Responsibilities


  • Communicate findings clearly with service advisors and supervisors 
  • Maintain productivity goals 
  • Follow safety and compliance procedures 
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace
  • Participate in ongoing training 


Qualifications 

Required


  • 2–4 years diesel repair experience (Class 3–8 preferred) 
  • Strong mechanical repair skills 
  • Basic to intermediate diagnostic experience 
  • Ability to read service manuals and wiring diagrams 
  • Own professional tools 
  • Valid driver’s license


Preferred 


  • ASE Certifications (T Series) 
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic software 
  • Emissions system experience 
  • Fleet maintenance experience 


Skills & Competencies

Physical Requirements 


  • Lift up to 75 lbs 
  • Stand for extended periods 
  • Work in shop environment (heat, cold, noise) 
  • Work under vehicles and inside engine compartments
